Stepping Up To The Plate (Week 2 Roundup)

Well, Week 2 wasn’t much better than Week 1, LOL. I’m not that surprised really - I haven’t been paying attention to my diet at all. I’m too busy walking! But today (after seeing the result on the scales this morning, sigh) I’ve decided its high time I concentrate on the food side of things as well. So I’m back counting calories this week.

I walked an additional 25.14 kms (15.62 miles) during Week 2. Yay me! You can check out my progress on Lizzie’s Great Big Walk - I’m attempting to cyber-walk from New York to Washington DC and have logged in nearly 55km (33.86 miles) so far.

Now, on to the actual weight. Auugh. I gained 0.8 kg (1.8 lbs), but you know, in light of the whole walking thing, this bothers me very little. I know what I need to do on the food side of things and that’s going to be my focus this week. I’m really glad I took those 2 weeks to establish that walking habit and though I have another 2 weeks before it becomes second nature, it makes things a lot easier when I now go on to tackle the diet stuff.

How are we all doing this week?

Cheers,
Lizzie

How’re we doing? Let’s just say we don’t want to look at the scales in the a.m.!

Can we say that you walked some muscle onto your body? It does weight more than fat, you know!

Ahhh, well that explains the notion of my rear end being bigger than I remember, LOL. My gluteus maximus and hamstrings are getting quite a workout :P

Obviously my body hasn’t changed at ALL, but my mindset has. That’s probably three-quarters of the battle won right there…

    Cheers,
    Lizzie

You are doing great Lizzie, don’t beat your self up about a small loss, after all a loss is a loss :)
You are better off breaking things up and establishing one thing at a time anyway, you’re far less likely to crash and burn. I think you have been very sensible.

Go Lizzie, I’m here cheering you on :)

You are doing just fine, I am proud of you for all the walking you are doing.

The walking is such an investment, even if it initially shows up as a “gain.” It’s true - muscle weighs more, but it will burn, burn, burn those calories even when you are sitting still. Keep it up; you’ll start seeing those dividends!

you know what they say? even though you may not be losing POUNDS…any type of consistent exercise is helping you lose inches/get in shape. You are building muscle which weighs more. Throw in a little moderation on the food side and you’ll be losing #’s in no time!

    Good job on the walking!

Wow - I like your cyber walking idea. Having some sort of goal in mind might help me. Walking just seems so pointless, yet, I know I have to begin.
    Keep up the good work!

Great job with the walking - much more that I did this past week! I’m hoping I’ll be able to exercise again this week. The pound I lost was probably only because I was just bloated when I stepped on the scale last week! But wow, putting it out here for “all the world to see” is really helping me not give up!
Keep up the good work girl!

Thanks for all the encouragement guys…

Almost makes me feel bad that I’m munching down some cheesecake as I type.

    …almost (LOL)

    Cheers,
Lizzie (who did go for another walk today :)
