The Ultimate Blog Party 2008
Howdy!
Come in, come in. Don’t worry about your shoes, our floors look like a sherpa tracked llama droppings in anyway - the perils of living with two rambunctious boys.
Have a cupcake. I (almost) made them myself. Drink? I don’t know what is in this, but it looks mighty fine.
Don’t think we’ve officially met. I’m Lizzie. If you’re desperate to know the whys and wherefores, click on the ‘About Lizzie’ link. In short, I’m married, have three kids, and live in Australia. I’ve just been through a messy blog-divorce (Blogger got the easy editing, but Wordpress finally wooed me with its groovy plugins). It’s about four hundred degrees where I am at the moment and I’m melting. Pour me a drink while you’re up. Thanks.
Lizzie’s Home as a ‘dot com’ is brand spanking new. The old blog was up for almost exactly one year - my bloggiversary is March 21. As for here, three days ago it was all a barren wasteland. Now I’m not so sure we’re up to scratch yet, but we’re starting to flesh out the place so let me take you on a little tour.
You’ve already read all about me, obviously. Some of my faithful readers would also know that I’m an ‘autism mama’. If you’d like to read more about our life with Master J, you can do so here. And here’s a more detailed look at the first few years after diagnosis. I update The Journey each April. And here’s the obligatory ‘100 Things About Me‘ list one does when one has a old new blog (the original ‘new blog’, not this one). I keep a mean Home Management Binder too.
If you lift your eyes you’ll see ‘Book & Film List’ in the menu bar. It has nothing in it yet. Soon though, soon. A hint to my taste? Every conceivable romantic comedy ever made. See numbers 63 to 65 on the ‘100 Things’ list. Yes. It’s true. I’ve not sat down to properly read a book in, oh, about a bajillion years, so 2008 is the year to kickstart that again.
Also in the menu bar you’ll see Craft Links and Printables. Pretty self explanatory. Don’t believe that I actually craft though. I want to craft…I just can’t make button A fit buttonhole B most of the time. Printables are my ‘thing’ though. They’re not exactly earth shattering, but this is a small list of the Printables I devised for myself to simplify some of the homemaking tasks I do most often. Grocery shopping and menu planning printables feature prominently, LOL. I’m hoping to make Fridays are regular ‘new printable’ day, so if you subscribe (*smiles sweetly*) you won’t miss a single one :)
And Recipe Box is another no-brainer. From time to time I’ll link to or upload my own or others’ recipes that we cook most often around these ‘ere parts. Nothing terribly major. Just the basics.
There isn’t much else up in the sidebars at present. As I said, I’m still finding my feet in Wordpress and a few days ago started to develop a nervous tic after two solid days of site development only to have a teeny weeny something go wrong which meant a whole new installation and set-up. It. Was. Not. Fun. But we’re here now, things are going pretty smoothly and I hope to have some more of the links from the old blog up here soon.

That binder is *a-mazing*! I have seen a lot of home binders but yours is the first one that really looks to be set up the way *I* think (which is no small task!) I am *so* making one!
And where did you find a laminator for $24.00??

Would you believe I picked up the laminator (yes, it’s a cheapo brand) at the local supermarket? It was $15 off. It’s only A4 size (in retrospect I may have sprung the extra for one I could fit scrapbooking pages in - no, don’t scrapbook yet but would have liked the option!) But I use it ALL THE TIME. Seriously. Every chart I print out now that I know will be used over again gets laminated. The neat thing is, once they’re all shiny I can use them as whiteboards as well, LOL. You’ll see phone numbers and appointment times written all over my menu sheets…..LOL.
